Trident Environmental and the Andover Fire Department responded to a chemical fire on Interstate 495 Monday.

A tractor-trailer carrying chemicals was engulfed in flames due to the reaction of chemicals in the cargo of the trailer. The material did not spill out of the tractor trailer.

But the fire was enough to force the shutdown of the northbound side of 495. It was shut starting at around 12:30 p.m.
